The Seed Pod
Neuroaffirming Deep Dive in Support of Autistic and ADHD Folk
Five 90 min themed webinars with Q and A opportunity with award-winning disabled therapist Lou. The most exciting part of this course is that YOU get to shape how it unfolds, therefore directly steering the direction of support services for my community. The advocacy that I do in government, local council and NDIS spaces and the training that I provide to support teams in future will be informed by your needs and your wisdom and expertise. This is an investment in your professional development with the deeper valuable mission of changing the trajectory of a whole community of vulnerable folks whose life expectancy is 50 years less than the average person, 50 years! Let’s be the change.
In my lifetime as a psychologist and researcher I developed a unique way of celebrating my clients who were being assessed for neurodivergence, deeply validating their life experiences, helping them to reframe their experience of failures and character “flaws”, holding their traumas with care and expert support and then guiding them through a process of both grief and celebration after diagnosis. But one person working in this way when so many folks are needing it is futile. I am passionate about training others to support disabled folks the way that I do, who can then support other folks to work in this way and so on. My skills and expertise (and lived experience) and the heart-centred and creative way I approach work, can spread like osmosis through you wonderful trail blazers.

Module breakdown
Module 1: Understanding and Celebrating Neurodiversity
In this module, we delve into the concept of neurodiversity, focusing on Autism, ADHD, and other disabilities under the rainbow umbrella. We explore the unique strengths and challenges individuals with these disabilities face, providing a foundational understanding for effective supports. We will explore the complexity of family dynamic and genetics and how to support family members who are not identified as neurodivergent.
Module 2: Strategies for Supporting Executive Functioning
This module equips you with practical strategies to support individuals with executive functioning challenges and how to identify what those needs are. From organisation skills to time management techniques, we provide actionable tools to enhance daily functioning and productivity, without the gaslighting and trauma that this process usually involves.
Module 3: Creating Individualised Support Plans and Advocating for Your Client
Here, we guide you through the process of developing personalised support plans tailored to the specific needs of individuals with Autism, ADHD, and executive functioning difficulties. We emphasise the importance of individualised neurodiversity-affirming care and goal setting (how not to traumatise your client with their therapies and supports). We delve into the language you can use to advocate for the well-being of your client.
Module 4: Enhancing Communication and Social Skills, and Emotion Literacy (Identification and Regulation)
Effective communication is key in providing support to individuals with neurodivergent disabilities. This module focuses on strategies to improve communication and social skills, fostering positive interactions and relationships within the support network and improve emotion literacy (teaser: this module may be outrageously different to what you imagine).

Testimonials
Back before social media became a harrowing place for us folks with disabilities and the platform monetised every aspect of our experience I had a really loyal following on Facebook who would come to sit with me while I went Live each day. I would continue about my day, parenting, cooking, farming etc and just spout words of wisdom from my life experiences and my training as a therapist. What folks loved the most was the candid way I brought them guidance and training. They loved to see me “do life”. I bring a calm and peace that does not really speak to the trauma I have experienced and people want to absorb that.
This one time I was speaking about time pressures as an autistic person raising autistic children and how we navigate seasons of grief as folks that don’t “think” and “feel” things the same as everyone else. My child literally smashed a window while I was on live!! Whoops. She was angry because her brother had accidentally done something (accidents are fraught with intensity and overwhelm for us folks to navigate) and she couldn’t react towards him so she turned to the window. I tackled it with calm and congruency, almost forgetting the live audience I had. The response I got to that was overwhelming and folks still speak of it today.

After an art therapy workshop for disabled folk: “I can see you are truly in your element when you are in front of a crowd teaching.”
Kristy Forbes
“When you and the kids are around you inspire me to be a better parent. You are calm, you are so reasonable, they trust you. And in turn these kids are so resilient, even though I hate that word.”
Rhian
Working with groups: “Your love for them is palpable. Just an observation but I kind of sense your inner child or at least a younger, "truer" version of you when you are with them. Does that make sense? You just seem so light, and present, joyful and really at ease with yourself and who you are, also who you are to them and who they are to you. It's beautiful to witness.”

You have given him the biggest gift, to know who he is

Even as a child you were the big hearted one. Paddy was scooped up by your Matriarchy when Greg was dying. You weren't much older than him but you weren't afraid of death & just loved, loved, loved everyone
Gill
You taught her so much and I will forever be indebted to you for that ~ talking about her daughter a decade after appointments with Lou
Kim
Better for having you on our team. Honestly there's times I think how would Lou deal with this. You're my inspo for all things parenting.
