When I learnt that us folks have a life expectancy that is 50 years less than the average person, a hyperfixation of epic proportions was born.

Since then I have been working relentlessly to be part of the change. I started to work with adults assessing folks that had either been missed or had been traumatised by their original assessment; I am obsessed with joining folks on their exploration of their neurodivergence, honouring their strengths and holding their traumas, and then celebrating their identity with them.

However, what I realised was that - although validating - these late diagnoses lead way to a flood of grief and then the whole new problem of okay cool - but what is autistic culture and how do I bring it into my life? How do I ask for accommodations? What do I even need? How do I advocate for myself? WHAT IS MY BRAIN EVEN GAAAAAAAAAAH.

So I developed The Brain Boss, a quick course on our executive functioning, disability advocacy, and some self care.

But what I’m really excited about is offering an ongoing community; where we can learn to care for ourselves in a way that actually suits our neurobiology.

So I’ve been working my little autistic butt off to create an online community portal, a hub of self-paced somatic self care and live events.

Transformation

As neurodivergent folk, our nervous systems and our anatomy are designed differently. Combine that with our unique vulnerability for complex trauma, many of the wellness techniques and self care strategies recommended to us by mainstream systems are not suitable, accessible or safe for us.

In order to make your transition to Divergent Breathwork I have created a four week course to slowly guide you into the online hub and community membership.

Testimonials

Back before social media became a harrowing place for us folks with disabilities and the platform monetised every aspect of our experience I had a really loyal following on Facebook who would come to sit with me while I went Live each day. I would continue about my day, parenting, cooking, farming etc and just spout words of wisdom from my life experiences and my training as a therapist. What folks loved the most was the candid way I brought them guidance and training. They loved to see me “do life”. I bring a calm and peace that does not really speak to the trauma I have experienced and people want to absorb that.

This one time I was speaking about time pressures as an autistic person raising autistic children and how we navigate seasons of grief as folks that don’t “think” and “feel” things the same as everyone else. My child literally smashed a window while I was on live!! Whoops. She was angry because her brother had accidentally done something (accidents are fraught with intensity and overwhelm for us folks to navigate) and she couldn’t react towards him so she turned to the window. I tackled it with calm and congruency, almost forgetting the live audience I had. The response I got to that was overwhelming and folks still speak of it today.

Amy

After an art therapy workshop for disabled folk: “I can see you are truly in your element when you are in front of a crowd teaching.”

Kristy Forbes

“When you and the kids are around you inspire me to be a better parent. You are calm, you are so reasonable, they trust you. And in turn these kids are so resilient, even though I hate that word.”

Rhian

Working with groups: “Your love for them is palpable. Just an observation but I kind of sense your inner child or at least a younger, "truer" version of you when you are with them. Does that make sense? You just seem so light, and present, joyful and really at ease with yourself and who you are, also who you are to them and who they are to you. It's beautiful to witness.”

EK

You have given him the biggest gift, to know who he is

It couldn’t have been anyone else except Lou

Rhi

Lou gave me a safe place to land when I was adrift amongst a sea of uncertainty, loneliness and exhaustion. We travelled nearly two hours to experience the incredible atmosphere she created with her capacity to hold space for others

Just received this aftercare package from my beautiful amazing psychologist Lou, what an absolute gift to be diagnosed by you. I will be forever grateful and feel excited to embark on this next chapter of my life

Cindy

Even as a child you were the big hearted one. Paddy was scooped up by your Matriarchy when Greg was dying. You weren't much older than him but you weren't afraid of death & just loved, loved, loved everyone

Gill

You taught her so much and I will forever be indebted to you for that ~ talking about her daughter a decade after appointments with Lou

Kim

Better for having you on our team. Honestly there's times I think how would Lou deal with this. You're my inspo for all things parenting.
